Ok, I was playing HL2 after replacing a power supply which burnt out earlier in the day so the case was of. This was an older and less powerful PSUso I had the neon’s and case fans unplugged. About 10 minuets in it powered of, just everything went of. I left for it for a few seconds pressed the power button and there was a big spark inside the power supply and like a loud popping sound followed by a little smoke. This was my 3rd power supply in less than a week two burring out and the other one sparking. The two that burnt out were brand new 400wat ones and the older one was a 300. Would the spark take anything down with it such as the processor? And could the problem be my 9800pro which looks like it needs the most power? What power supply would u recommend considering I have a 9800pro a pair of neon’s and 4 case fans, three of them with LED’S on?

Not correct, the 300watt one blew up because it was not powerful enough, though of high quality which came up to £50 when P4 power supply’s first came out, and the other two came in a £30 case which means the power supply was basically worth a fiver. But the one I have now has a 5 year warranty has lasted me longer than any of the others did, is extremely quiet and is actually quite cool.
As i didn’t pay for the £50 which was years old any way, My total comes to just under £60 and that’s including the super cool case I got with the other two power supply’s.

If you take his other two 400W PSUs, we'll say those came to about £45, and the 300W about another £15, then the £20 for this one, the total is £80. When this one inevitably goes, he'll just be left wondering why he didn't spend that £80 on a decent PSU in the first place.

*sigh*

No, and you wont get any.

At least until it burns out and takes valuable components with it in a blue flash and a puff of evil smelling smoke.

This has no effect on me in the slightest, but I'll just say one thing.

Brave, brave lad...............
I'd personally NEVER risk my components / data with a substandard PSU.
