Now dont put me down as some sort of frigid barry, I enjoy Eminem as much as the next person. Swearing in songs is a more and more happening thing recently. Swearing in songs can be acceptable in certain circumstances, e.g. raps like stan in which strong language is needed for it to be realistic. However, my moan is at people like jennifer lopez. her recent song has swear words in wen it is totally unnecassery. These are songs that are played daily over the radio that mainly young impressionable children will be listening to. This is especially true in the case of jennifer lopez. her song is upbeat and supposed to make people dance. there is no need for the random swear word in the middle of the song. in these cases strong language is not needed to sell the records, none of her previous records to my knowledge had swearing in, and they have gone down pretty well. these are the songs that young children will be growing up listening to and thinking that that type of language is ok. you maybe wondering why i am not having a go at dr dre or eminem. this is simply because the type of music they have revolves around the whole bad boy attitude. they cant go around saying 'i poo on you'. it would ruin their image. however, jennifer lopez and certain other people dont have this kind of image. they dont rely on the whole bad boy image. so my final words are, 'there is no need for unnecassery swearing, its not big and its not cleva. just dont blame me when kids are swearing as soon as they speak.'

Jonathan Davies' being abused as a kid is a good reason for swearing in Korn's songs? I don't think so. Whatever abuse he went through, of course he may want to vent his anger, but that doesn't necessarily mean swearing. He just comes across as a whiny teenager in a man's body. A bit like Kevin the teenager in fact. The 'woe is me' stuff doesn't wash when they've sold millions of records. They've definitely got some talent in that band, but they've spread it too thinly over their albums.

(in the style of a back bench MP)

Here here,

Multi-media stars and starlets in general should be stopped dead in their tracks, Sing if you can, Act if you like but do one or the other, because both is just too much. Jennifer Lopez in particular though, she's gotten everywhere lately and with no discernable talent other than looking good.
Make room for the talented Ugly people.

I demand that Jennifer Lopez, or J-Lo or WD40 or whatever the hell she wants to call herself, stops making music.

I personally hate Jennifer Lopez's music, but i don't think anyone has the right to make demands of what she is or isn't allowed to say. What the point in an artist even writing lyrics if they are going to be scrutinized or edited to the point where they no longer represent the origional idea? I actually think bleeping swear words draws more attention to them than leaving the words in where they might go un-noticed. Anyway, chances are any children are far more likely to pick up swearing from their parents or brothers or sisters than they are from music. But then again.. swear words are just that... WORDS. If people weren't so conservative in their views on censorship maybe there wouldn't be a problem. You can offend someone very affectively without swear words. Whats worse - 'p*** off' or 'i'm going to stab your family one by one and spit on their bodies'? the second sentence would pass through any censors, and is a lot more offensive.

There are other intelligent ways to voice your lyrics rather than resort to swearing all the time.

I dunno, I guess I've come to the realisation that talent doesn't seem to count for anything these days.

Johnathan Davies has (KoRn) a real good reason for his language. He was abused several times as a kid and hates his father for it. Their music is still the TOPS!!!

The thing is people who hear celebrities swear think they are cool because they are rebelling - doing something they are not told to. Swearing sells and it's a fact as it makes children of all ages think they are cool as they are doing something they are not suppose to.

Children were born to rebel against their parents!
However I have a problem my Mum's a fan of Eminem so what do I do know? Listen to S-Clubs Funky Beat? :)

Some songs have them for reasons while others just put them in for no reason.

Some songs that the Manics have done they swear, the same for Radiohead and Greenday.

For me the above are mature bands who put the words in to emphasize the point and it is only rarely in a song and when it is it is not constant (BEEP BEEP BEEP just BEEP off)

Eminem swears constant for no reason and only rarely it is needed same goes for Papa Roach and Limp Bizkit.
