I was explaining to the missus last night about how Michael Moore got booed when he mentioned the Iraq "war" at the OSCARs when on the same night a man, who was wanted by the authorities because he admitted having sex with a 13 year-old, was cheered and clapped.

And now the same bloke (Roman Polanksi) wants to be allowed to give evidence in a British libel case from France because he's worried that if he comes to England he'll be extradited to the US.

Reminds me of the time Speilberg sat me in his directors chair, unzipped himself and told me to EARN my damn part in Jaws 2.

A few years ago I met a girl who claimed to be 18. She looked about 18 as well. OK, so she was younger than me, but I figured it wasn't that much younger. It was only when we went to a bar and she got IDed that I discovered she was 14. Thankfully, that was early on. It can happen.

However, I don't think he was under the impression that she was 18.

You do have to query however why the girl's parents let her go though.

Also, his state of mind was likely going to have been affected somewhat. His pregnant mother, killed in a concentration camp. Growing up in the ghettos. Having his 8 months pregnant wife murdered, her stomach slit open to see the fetus, and several friends also murdered at the same time by the Manson gang in his own home whilst he was away. That's gotta do stuff to you.

Not that it was excusable, but I don't think anyone could rightly claim that he was all there in his head.

So you think that makes it okay for him to just sleep with her? It doesn't absolve him of responsibility - in the eyes of the law she was a minor.

Can't tell a 13 year-old from an 18 year-old? That's some serious eye sight problems.

What the ####??!? Are you serious?

With the Case of Roman Polanski, I remember watching a documentary on him on the Biography channel.... Apparently the woman told Roman that she was 18... Hell now-a-days nobody can tell peoples age, so It's gotta be the girls fault, as he engaged in a act on misconception, so he should not be responsible for the outcome. Plus he is a good movie director

It's like the judges said:

He's a fugitive from justice, so how can he expect any?
If the case gets thrown out of court, wouldn't it be funny once the tabloids realise what they can get away with... ;-D

I'm not concerned with boycotting films or anything, simply that he shouldn't be allowed to evidence from another country because he's scared of entering Britain incase he's caught for something he's already admitted to.

It just made me angry that he thinks he should be allowed to do it.

Er... "seriously"?

...

Although this is irrelevant, Polanski is a much better film maker than Moore.

Victor Salva (Jeepers Creepers) is guily of a similar charge towards a boy (watch JC2, and it's clear why there are lingering shots of topless lads)

I agree they are guilty of crimes, but at what point do you boycott (if at all) their movies becuse of their past actions?

Personally, I'm not a great fan of either Polanski or Salva, but they obviously make cash.

I have no sympathy for child molesters. I think castration should be considered.

Seriously I think they should volunteer to be castrated to avoid jail. problem solved.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
