so i wanna play games like Far Cry and Half Life 2, but my system is a bit old and slow [like its owner]. I'm still playing MOHAA Spearhead. What sort of upgrades do I need to play these, with all the settings at top whack, and what kind of cash are we talking? cheers

I have:

Athlon XP 2500-M (Barton) @ 2.35GHz
512mb Corsair XMS3200 (2x256mb dual channel)
Radeon 9700 Pro 128mb


Not the most amazing computer in the world (especially compared to Alastair's), but it's more than good enough for me nonetheless.

2.62GHZ. I would go faster and could probably get 2.65GHZ but I don't want to push it all that much more as it runs anything flawlessly.

What clock are you at just now?

It is currently clock faster than stock FX55, not that I would be stupid enough to sell such an awesome setup.

thanks for the replies. I've got a 800 Duron processor (running at 850), a GeForce graphics card (64 I think), and 256 RAM. By 'top whack' I mean so it looks impressive, and doesn't struggle to cope with the gameplay. No idea what AA and AF means! cheers
