"Believe it or not, this is not only unfair, BUT IS ILLEGAL. Yes, that's right. Under the sex discrimination act, giving people this sort of advantage is illegal- whether it be for men or for women.
Interestingly, this means that you can't give a high flying job to a woman to try to encourage other women to work, if there is a man that can do a better job (~Germain Greer).
So please stop this prize, or else, by law, all regulars will be allowed a free game from now on! (No joke!)
Sonic"
And this is no joke!
Tony's Reply:
I'm amazed that anyone should complain.
Basically, there are laws against material forms of sexual discrimination. These are to prevent undue advantage AND undue persecution, hurt or stress to BOTH males and females.
But there is no law against running a competition which is open to female entrants only. In fact the only way to contend this would be to take the matter to court where it would be decided on the basis of general perameters of discimination law and historical precedent.
The only person you could take to court is me, because I placed the competition. Nobody else on the forums is guilty of anything. After you have spent your twenty grand you might, if you had exceptional lawyers, get a ruling that a similar competition must be run for the fellas.
But as you know, the fellas don't begrudge one extra GD going to the cause of increasing the number of participants on these forums.
> YH you are a comedian and don't let anybody tell you different
Was i correct in detecting a hint of sarcasm in there somewhere?
:-)
I don't see the problem Sonic has to be honest.
BTW, this has nothing to do with the request i just posted in the "Oi! Tony, over here!" thread.
:-)
Right, that's it. Must go home now. (to the relief of everyone still here!)
It was so weak it couldn't fight it's way out of a damp paper bag.
:-)
er-no is talking
(to himself)
> It's actually 115% er-no.
Looks like you're wrong again!
:-)
That was the point YH!
