They still together? I remember hearing a while ago that the vocalist had left, not sure if he returned. Certainly one of my favourite bands or recent times, would love to see them live, although I would imagine such a gig would be pure anarchy, where you get crushed under the feet of a million rampaging moshers.

Rage were 1,000,000 times bigger than Audioslave are now, but i like both bands. I think it was Zack that split up the first band, but ive heard he's 'making a come-back', whatever thats supposed to mean. I think it was in Kerrang!/Metal Hammer/something similar. The difference is that RATM were a political band who actually had an effect on things, but Audioslave are just another rock band. They have a new album coming out next year aswel, could be worth a listen to.

I like Audioslave as well. Haven't listened to much RATM in a while, so can't quite decide which I prefer. I doubt the RATM split was anything to do with the bassist though, otherwise why would he be in Audioslave?

I prefer Cornell to De La Rocha, but that is just personal preference. And yeah, RATM were good live, but not the best gig I've ever been too.

Rage were fantastic, and one of the best gigs I've been to - at the Brixton Academy, an Anti-Nazi League benefit do (also had Billy Brag, most excellent).
Got a tad too intense though, packed in and you were swept along (literally) with the crowd with no control over your movements.
1st album is excellent, 2nd is ok, 3rd is my favourite.
Personally I like Audioslave and don't care if anybody else does or not.
Especially people that use "amusing" internet spellings like "Pwned" and ">>", your opinion is void by the fact you're too geeky to like any music other than Warp label noise.

Morello is a genius guitarist.

He has some insane techniques with the Whammy bar and pickup selector.

You'd think so wouldnt ya. But u know how many he really had? 6. No more no less. For guitar-geeks they were 1) Digitech Whammy Pedal (from the solo in 'Killing in the Name'), Boss TR-2 Tremolo Pedal (from the riff in 'Guerilla Radio'), MXR Phase 90 (Er, the solo in 'Show Me How to Live', an Audioslave song), a 7-band EQ Pedal (Tone controls), Dunlop Crybaby (wah-wah pedal), and a Boss Delay pedal (kinda like an echo effect, e.g. the intro to Revolver). Amazing what he does with such a small amount of equipment. Just 1 guitar, 1 amp and 6 pedal. 'Mazin.

Indeed.

I love Rage, I believe they split as their bassist was being a nob, and they felt the band wasn't going anywhere anymore.

Still, they are legends to me..

Indeed. Anyone here heard "Show Me How To Live" by Audioslave? Listening to Cornell's voice change octaves at the end was very irritating.

RATM are one of my favourite bands - for sheer energy and 'jumping about because of serotonin', they are unbeatable.

In fact, I'm putting on Testify right now....

I reckon these guys live would have been > anything. Possibly even the Pumpkins*
