God damn it's difficult. I can't for the life of me decide what style to do it in, and I'm such a bloody perfectionist I can't get the thing off the ground.

It's due to belief as well, losing faith in the story. Animation teaches that you draw the keyframes, then use your imagination and skill to fill in the rest.. and that's kinda how I like to write, going creatively from one position to another.

Is anyone writing a novel at the moment? Any tips? I'm so desperate to get this done, but I can't seem to get around to being happy with how it's going. Stupid writer's block doesn't help either.

I tried it once, but after a while I realised it was crap and scrapped it. I find it so hard to think of something original.

What about a novel about a robot driving instructor from the future who travels back in time for some reason. Did I mention his best friend is a talking pie?

I'm writing a novel!
It started off going in one direction (it had a plot), then around 10,000 words I realized the plot wasn't believable, so I shifted it in another direction - now it's just going wherever its going, which is farther and farther into dream realms and the surreal.

As for advice... god knows. All this writing "big" stories is new to me, and like you I sometimes feel overly pressured by the whole "is it going where I want it to go? am I saying what I want to say?" etc -

But I'm just enjoying writing it at the moment: seeing it as a learning process; testing myself to see if I can actually write something which is unique-ish.

Advice? Damn, you've got me there.
I just started writing with no real purpose and what I started with branched off into a novel. But I doubt it happens like that very often.

And the other book I've sort of started writing is just a bigger version of one of the short stories I put on here.

:P I don't think I could ever give up anyway.. I'm stuck in this damned limbo.

Mmm need to relax. I should be a buddist or something.

Hi there,

I'm churning along nicely with my book. About 52,000 words right now.

Yours, smugly,

Very true.. I need to take the pressure off, I reckon, stop making it out to be so important, relax somewhat.

I'm terrible for stress, get wound up all the time.
