I was watching this programme on ITV a few minutes ago and there were two families on it who were competing to lose the most weight. The winning family won a holiday to America in a 4-star hotel and they got some spending money with it.
To enter for the show though, you've obviously got to be pretty fat so those of us that are currently a reasonable weight don't stand a chance. The way I see it, people are being rewarded for piling on the pounds by being lazy and stuffing their faces then just losing a bit before they more than likely get fat again.
One of the contestants on the winning team started out at 27 stone and was only 13 years old. At the final weigh-in he was still just over 23 stone so does someone like that really deserve such a prize.
I'll admit I'm not the the most active person in the world but I do work hard to make sure I don't become overweight. I suppose I shouldn't be jealous though because I knowing that this holiday is the best thing that'll ever happen to him because at the rate he's going I imagine he'll die when he's 40 from some sort of fat person's disease.
How do people become so amazingly fat?

I'm 5'11" and weight 11.5 stone, that gives me a BMI of 22.5

Why is almost everyone in this topic skinny and lanky? I guess it's a certain type of person that goes to these websites.

I seem to be taller than most people in real life. Yet online, I seem to be practically a midget...

I don't think you can really blame this on supermarkets. Poor people are perfectly capable of eating healthily, if they choose to. They choose not to. Why buy good food and spend time preparing it when you can buy some microwave chips and eat five minutes later? That seems to be the prevalent attitude. Honestly though, I cannot imagine how people can have so little respect for their own bodies.

I can easily live on £15-20 a week in food, and that's not just an ordinary diet, but an ultra-healty one...

Potatoes and pasta? :)

Seriously though, I'm interested, what would you buy?

I lived on $20 a week in Canada, 15 piece bucket of KFC chicken for $14.99 and then pringles and soda. Such a healthy diet and i lost 2 stone just eating that for 4 months

Alrighty. VenomByte's ultra healthy diet plan

Weekly shopping will consist of:

5 x 420g tinned salmon £3.00
tins of baked beans ... probably about 3p
porridge oats (for about 80p you can make 20 bowlfulls... might as well be free)
bran flakes £3.20
many gallons of milk £4
oranges/apples £3
1 loaf bread £0.50
2x 500g Sainsbury's budget coleslaw £1.00
green veg £3
potatoes £0.79 for 1.5kg
peanuts £1 for 500g
chicken thigs 1.5kg, £1.60 or something

That's roughly £20 worth I think... and you don't need all the above every week.

All the major food groups are covered. You have your 5 helpings of fruit & veg, plenty of milk, white meat, even some unsaturated fats (peanuts). It's also massively high in fibre which will, um, keep you regular.

My typical day woudl consist of:
Breakfast, 9am, big bowl of bran flakes
snack at 11am, coleslaw & salmon sandwich
lunch at 2pm, probbaly salmon & jacket potatoes.
dinner at 6pm, probably roast chicken, potatoes & green veg
some fruit at some point
snack at 8-9pm, probably another big bowl of cereal
maybe a bowl of porridge at about midnight too.

(Please note: The above diet is not quite Atkins-compliant)

Pfft, chicken is as expensive as steak, a kilogram of chicken breat costs 9 quid, so thigh would cost about 5, so it's more like 7.50

Go to the freezer section, not the fridges. Look for the massive bags of frozen drumsticks or chicken thighs, not boned chicken breast.
