I am really not that sure, I mean people to date still prefer SNES's to N64's, but i suppose just in the same way people prefer PSX's to PS2's. But will the Gamecube end up further down the list?! The games in talks are sequels, Rogue Squadron, Zelda, Mario, Wave Race, Metroid. Okay so metroid is new in style but seriously, will these games offer anymore than their predecessors, or even their predecessors, predecessors?!
Same old link, fighting people, out to save the world. Bowser is back yet again, Mario kills him whoopie do. Look at me, my jet-ski has more polygons...not that you really noticed but it is a matter of principle....right?!
The Gamecube is definitely a powerful machine, comparable to the X-Box and PS2 by all means, but as history has shown, the console doesn't mean a thing, nor does the release date, as the Saturn was released before the PSX even if by a month or so. It is the games, and I think there will come a point where people eventually say "No!" to Mario and Link. I know they haven't with regards to Final Fantasy but each one is a new adventure, the storylines and characters even differ, but not so much the case with Mario.
I will get a Gamecube I like the games, I love the company and the idea of playing another Mario or Zelda is great...but surely this contradicts your previous point Game.....well not really as I am one in about 50 million people who play games...others may want new games, new genres and new characters.
I suppose I am getting a Gamecube partly because I am Nintendo Loyal, I wouldn't get a PS2, I don't like the company, the games won't include Zelda and Mario and above all they are in competition with Nintendo and as I said "I am getting a Gamecube partly because I am Nintendo Loyal".
The Gamecube won't really be the same.....there will be new games, veteran characters in all new adventures, and plus with all the 3rd party support what is to say that the Gamecube won't boast better versions and sequels to the games that made the PSX a success?!
Successful games, most of the time, are followed up by a sequel, Banjo-Kazooie, Metal Gear Solid, Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure. The only reason games are successful is because people like them, and as a result they buy them. There were about 30-40 solid Games on the N64, from Mario 64 to Wave Race and Goldeneye to Zelda. There really is no reason for companies like Rare and Nintendo NOT to make sequels for the Gamecube. People want sequels for assurace of a good games. Okay so not all sequels are the best or even better than their predecessors but with Rare and Nintendo, as sick as you might be of hearing it, their sequels are bound to hit home.
"Rare have done it again" and "Nintendo Classic" sound all too familiar but at least them being familiar means that they continually make games that please. It has happened with the N64 and it will happen with the Gamecube. The games may be similar, especially to start off with but you can be guaranteed that they will be good.
MGS2 and GT3 are all well and good, but with those two being the only 2 MAJOR exclusives because of serious competition from Microsoft and Nintendo they haven't got enough backing to make a serious shot. MGS2 will no doubt take the PS2's off the shelves but you think that a Gamecube will over 15 release games won't?! Mario...full 3D...bigger, better adventure more of everything...Mario Kart 128...enough Said?!
So if you think that they will be the same old Nintendo games, especially to start off with, then you're probably right, but that is what I, and many other people love as Nintendo fans. And if you don't like it, fine, Get a Playstation 2 but with Rare, Nintendo, and more developers than you can shake your PS2 controller at do you really want to be on the OTHER team...
....Thought not...

Have you seen the graphics for the GBC alone in the dark game?

I didn't say there was anything wrong with it, I'm just saying that is why I believe Nintendo have a 'childish' image.

Yes that's true. Same goes with the Game Boy Advance playing the Tony Hawk 2 game, now I have a good understanding of how good the graphics are if companies put hard effort into making GBA games.

No not from here. IGN. You need QuickTime though.
Where did you get the video from, here?

Right, that's why I know I shouldn't look forward to a game just because it has good graphics. Videos like that give you a good taste as to what the GameCube has to offer though.
I owned Wave Race for the N64, and it was a great game! On top of being really playable, the graphics were well impressive, especially the water effects.
If Nintendo can make the most use of the 'Cube's power, the water effects could look almost realistic, but then how will it play?
Personally I'm hoping that these Nintendo franchises will be

Having seen a small part off the Luigi's Mansion demo, I am happy to say that the graphics have heavly improved. Although it was only short, it was enough to get me excited for teh game to come out, maybe I am thinking in the wrong, but can you blame me? Maybe I shouldn't be looking forward to the Luigi's Mansion game just because I have seen a video of it with excellent graphics. What do you think?

Which, IMO, is a great idea. It will lure in the "casual gamers" because they will be impressed with the graphics that the console has to offer, right?
I hate to say it, but take SSX for example. I know loads of people that have WATCHED someone play SSZ and they were very impressed with what it LOOKS like so they splashed out £300 just to play SSX, strange or what...

I haven;t played the game on the N64, but I think I have played it in the arcades, is it the one where you are on a Jet Skie thing, or am I mistaken?
If I'm right, yes I loved playing that down the arcades with my mates. The best bit is when you go under water and you see all the fish! :-)

THats to give it a better effect. It just wouldnt be the same if it was a lifelike squirrel. Cartoons can be as imaginative as u like, the possibilities are endless. And the result is a fun gaming experience. Cartoony grapihcs are also much easier on the eyes. No console can produce perfect graphics of real life type style. Loads of blocky stuff, and the effect is lost.
Okay, is Nintendo a childish company?
No, but they make games suitable for children as well as adults, and that's an awfully good reason for me to buy a GameCube.
This whole 'kiddies console' thing has just got stupid. Sony and Microsoft may have dozens of more adult oriented games for their consoles, but in the long run, it won't be good for them. Ignoring the 'next generation' of gamers means that yet another generation grows up with Nintendo, securing them sales for many years to come.
The fact is that although games such as Super Mario 64 are rather easy to get into, and you can complete the early levels with relative ease, there's also a hefty challenge involved in collecting all of the castle 120 stars. Most of the games by Nintendo and Rare have sliding scales of difficulty, so that many people can get a good gaming experience from it, at different levels.
What else?
Ah, GameCube SameCube!
How else will Nintendo promote their console? Some of the games I'm looking forward to most would be whatever Dinosaur Planet has become, and Too Human. These aren't really the games that will appeal to the general public, they need to see the Mario's and the Zelda's and other characters that they are familiar with in order to relate to the console, and get excited by it.
Personally I'm hoping that these Nintendo franchises will be taken on the the next level. Look at the difference between SuperMarioWorld and SuperMario64. There's a huge change in the style of game, and hopefully there will be another huge shift that will embrace the capabilities of the GameCube.
Some of the games being produced are more geared towards the public, whereas others are produced as great games, but they've been created to really show what the console is capable of.
WaveRace is one of those games that is raved about by those 'in the know'. The water effects are simply stunning, and the control in water is simply superb. A sequel to this game is a real benchmark for progress. Nintendo will only release it if it shows that they have taken more giant steps, and if the water effects are more stunning than ever before.
Um, anything else?
