it may only be a relatively small matter, but i feel this typifies some fundamental differences between how most nations should be run and how most ARE run.
a week ago a 2nd-hand submarine that was sold by the UK to canada suffered a fire and killed a crewman, which has led to speculation that canada may sue the UK over it's condition.
a quote from (Canadian defense minister) Bill Graham :
"once we have the facts we can all make our decisions. We're a great ally of the UK, we work together on many fronts and we will work this out as friends do"
... so no threats of bombing, no boycotting products, generally no petty recrimination or snide press releases, instead we are given a reasonable and pragmatic response.
other nations take note....

I've been to Canada, and also been to the States, and I have to agree that Canada is bloody better than States, the people are nicer except for those who speak Quebeck, BLOODY FRENCH! but I have to agree they aint as big gun toting maniacs as the yanks.
