Alec Guinness was the actor who wasn't enthusiastic about the film at all during filming. Ford was fine with it, quite enjoyed it I think.

I'm unsure what the franchise's main roots were, but after watching the special features on the DVD box set, it evidently manifested itself into something aimed at all ages, including adults.

Another thing worth mentioning is that a lot of the cast, including Ford and that bint who played the princess, thought they were in something crappy and are on camera admitting so.

Except Star Wars was originally planned as a weekly drama for children, like Animals of Farthing Wood.

I take your point but I'd say they were more maturely themed than Star Wars (although a dude trying to f his sister's pretty adult I'll grant you) .

The Bond Films still have a lot of people worked up over the amount of violence in films that generally have a PG rating.

Indiana Jones wasn't aimed for a young audience?

Alongside James Bond films, the Indiana Jones movies were some of my favourite as a young child.

They're girls.

*Shrugs*

Edit: Although come to think of it I have the Transformers movie. Which is still more adult and mature than star wars.

I know adults who watch Transformers, Scooby Doo, The Goonies etc.

They're still aimed at children.

Thankfully Indiana Jones wasn't really but then again the merchandise wasn't kicked into overdrive so we were spared that particular tragedy.

Wouldn't mind seeing the Star Wars story told with more flair and a darker approach though. Wouldn't shift as many dolls though I suppose.

It was never aimed specifically at children and many adults (including myself and others on these forums) still enjoy the films today.

You may not like them, but calling them films for children seriously weakens your argument.
