Why should I care about other people?
Why shouldn't I be racist, sexist, nationalist, or any other "bad"ist?
Why?
Why should I care for peoples feelings?
Why should I be nice?
Why should people be nice to me?
Why do people deserve sympathy?
Why do people scowl at me for being "racist"
Why should we care for anyone but ourselves?

That's all one question split into lots of sub questions. Explain.

Because it's called being decent.

Sorry if you want to be all cool and ignorant, but some people actually want to make the world a nicer place. A big f**k you to you if you are too stupid to care.

The world would be perfect, of course.

The British made an entire empire on being racist, sexist, nationalist, and not giving a damn about anything other than their Imperial status and pride. But that's all on the past, the ministers tell us, as Benjamin Zephania rejects his OBE and we argue over who owns Malta...

Anyway.

I strongly believe in empathy, one central belief channel that we all harness from time to time. Nothing to do with ghosts or God, or anything crappy like that - just the ability to experience emotions outside of our own sphere of thought and not being able to explain why.

There would be no point in human existence if nobody showed any compassion for anyone else. The world's bad enough as it is - can you imagine how it would be if everyone were like you?
Exactly.

I think the only one I do do is show sympathy. Just so that I can point and laugh at them later without feeling guilty for not helping them at the time, but then again, why should I care about guilt.

Obviously, seeing as I was referring to his statement about destroying ourselves.

Why should we care if drug users are killing themselves as long as it's not killing other people. But then again, why should we care if it's killing other people.

You don't have to do any of those things.

But you do, don't you?

So you should be answering your own question.
