"Sequels On The PS2........"

Now, if I remember correctly, one of the big arguments against the PS2 was that all the games being released for it were, "same old sequels" or "rehashes of PSX games."

Well, today I got Shadow Of Memories. I now have 6 PS2 games. I looked at them, and then thought, "How many are sequels??"

So, I have:

F1 World Championship Season 2000- This isn't really a sequel. I'm an F1 game, so I decided to get the first PS2 F1 game. Every console has an F1 game. Most do anyway.

Smuggler's Run: NOT a sequel.

Tekken Tag Tournament: Okay, this is a sequel, but it's on a different console, and has nice new name. Better than 'Tekken 4' anyway.

Star Wars Starfighter: NOT a sequel.

Shadow Of Memories: NOT a sequel.

Zone Of The Enders: NOT a sequel, and it is also my second favourite game ever.

Now, I believe people such as Wookiee, ssxpro and M16 will back me up on this with the games they have. I mean, that's not exactly 'lots' of sequels, is it??

2 of those are not sequels. But in a way i think Dynasty Warriors 2 should be counted as not being a real sequel, cause its a totally different game to the first one. The first game as at least most will know was a 1 on 1 beat em up like Tekken, etc. This is more a free roaming battlefield game.

Any of you guys after Extermination when it comes out ? I'm pretty interested in it :-)

Very true. What defines a true sequel? I may have to look up the full definition! That`d be the last bolt from the brain of the anti-PS2 argument if they weren`t true sequels wouldn`t it!

While technically the sequels are sequels, they are all 'originals' as far as PS2 is concerned. Although personally I couln't give a rats, as they're all damn fine games! :-)

I`m going to have to disagree there.

Do you forget Zone of the Beginners? Star Wars Fledgling fighers? In the light of Memories? Smuggler`s Walk?

The list of sequels goes on, and will be the downfall, what with Dropship, Onimusha, Red Faction, The Getaway, Virtual Ocean and many more on the way.

Also, did you see the review of Winning Eleven 5 in PSM2? It got 91% only the secong game on PS2 to be given above 90 by PSM2 I think.
