Some police avoid serious accidents all their careers. I’ve now had two in just over a week.

What got me the most? Was it the gory scenes this time? No, it wasn’t. It was the feeling of helplessness.

I then dealt with a sudden death in the afternoon.

I need to vent, but I can’t find the words. Muh!

Im not surprised you are finding it hard to express youself. You see alot of this in your line of work. Know doubt you are also going to see alot more too. It will be hard to see things that are disturbing and hard to take in. Before you just heard about these things, whether it be on the news, in the paper or word of mouth and know you are out there seeing this up close.

Some policemen/ women, doctors, nurses etc see this sort of thing everyday although its disturbing they just seem to deal with it as they see it every day maybe one day you will be the same and although it means something and is depressing to see. You'll be there dealing with it in the best way you can. After all you might be a policeman but your still human.

I admire you i really do, there is no way i could be doing what you do. I moan about the police round here when they do nothing about something. To hear what you go through makes me feel like...well look at what they do have to go through, and see. SO maybe the drug dealer down the street, and the firework through the door that didnt do much damage, and the kids that harass the neighbours is nothing compared to half the stuff that they have to approach.

E_B you can only do your best like i said your human, people are going to deal with things in different ways and things will hit you harder then it may hit someone else.

Also, more cold hearted, emotionless, robotic and efficient.

I am the grim rea..pc

I had another sudden death today. 80-year-old, which is a little easier to deal with. The family took it really well.

When I first started doing what I do now, I was fairly naive about a lot of things. The first time I actually went into action scared me. In some ways I was proud, and in some ways sickened by the results. It really does eat into you at first, seeing people die. There is no easy way out of it. But over time you do become somewhat desensitised to everything. You sound like you are slowly heading that way. There will always be a slight feeling of helplessness, but try to view it in a positive way, a motivating way. That might help, but then our jobs are slightly different.

Just time EB.

You just had to bring women into it didn't you?

EB - As someone already said, you'll comer out of it better for it, seeing as you're dealing with REAL life altering problems as opposed to the nothingness that the rest of us loose sleep over...

It'll make you all stronger.

But then will come a point where you'll be an emotional wall and some hot woman will need to help you cry.
