Very true, though this isn't an issue if you have installed SP2 (unless I'm reading into this incorrectly).
I'd suggest getting Service Pack 2 as soon as possible, even if you are pretty competent at using XP. Sure, it has some fresh bugs in it, but those are outweighed by the new protection it provides. All software on the scale of an OS will have bugs.
ÂLІÂÎR, not to sure if you've had any success with the version gamesfreak linked you too, but I don't think XP SP2 is available from the web site, but rather the new automatic updates you should have found on your PC under your control panel.
I'm not sure as to how far your knowledge of PC's go, so if I'm saying things that are obvious to you, then I apologise, but if you look to the bottom right of your XP taskbar, you may see a small arrow pointing to the left, clicking this will extend your taskbar, and you may find the automatic updates logo there. Clicking it may reveal that SP2 has been downloaded, but is waiting for your say-so to install.
It could also be that your beta version is leading the automatic update software into thinking the full blown SP2 is already installed.
But in a light of recent found bugs, the jpeg one being mentioned below, it's best to patch up and be safe IMO.
I apologise if I sound arrogant or whatever to you but I'm just saying that it'll be best to wait for another update.
Vulnerable? Hah.
