It's not just that; there's plenty of faults with it - how does incompatibility with sixty-odd apps sound?
SP2 will be a worthwhile update, but maybe in about six months time. With a decent firewall and virus protection on SP1 you'll be just as safe - if not safer - than SP2 users.
But generally, Windows is a good desktop OS, it has everything you need for use at home.
Linux is good for server based work etc
Isn't it logical to stop using something if you don't like to use it?
When in fact, you don't. Unless you work for Microsoft and they allow you to delve deep into the sourcecode.
And like Tyla said, Microsoft will be shifting you to SP2 wether you like it or not, especially as some technology's (such as DirectX) will soon be requiring SP2 to run.
Still yet to find any issues with it? Been running the network install on my desktop over 9 weeks ago and the standard "Home" update on my laptop for the last 4 weeks and yet to find any problems.
The only little annoyance I have found, is everytime you open a .php or .asp file to edit it in notepd or preview in IE you got a little "warning" window, but apparently you can disable this.
As long as you get all the critical updates for SP1 your still safe. SP2 offers a pop up blocker on IE, and the firewall is turned on be default. Also Outlook Express is safer from viruses. But for me I have Anti-virus that checks email, and a filter that quarantines emails any way. Got a firewall which includes a pop up blocker.
