A Plasma TV, around the 42" region.

I am willing to spend up to £3000 including a new surround sound system. I am wanting one with 1024 x 1024 resolution with NTSC 100hz or PAL 100hz playback.

I have one month to choose, any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers!

I watch around 7 films a week on top of all the TV I watch, football and what not. I have a 32" 100HZ pure flat TV as it is but I want something to wall mount for room space and something bigger than my current TV. A Panasonic TV I saw in Curry's at weekend was £3100 which was a 42" with 1024 x 1024 at 100hz, saw the same TV online £400 cheaper so that looks the favourite so far.

Tis a pretty big choice though as it will last me for a hell of a long time and I don't want to f**k it up buying something this expensive that I don't know about.

Tsk, little rich kids. 3G on a TV? I'd have to eradicate the Sudanese famine before the guilt of that one passed away.

Well i personally have a 28" flat screen widescreen 100hz TV (not a plasma one)

You must be a big TV watcher to want to spend that much so my first bit of advice is READ EVERYTHING YOU CAN FIND! Get hold of some Which! Magazines as they give very good advice. I believe they say that plasma TVs are still not as good as the old fashioned version (CRT?) ones. You don't get as good a picture and the resolution will not be too sharp. Generally Panasonic and Sony do good TVs so going into their shops and pestering sales staff is a good thing :) Im not sure about TV resolution. I thought all TVs were 800x600 with only new 'high definition' TVs being better. Though i don't know much about TVs.

But yeh, if you want to spend that much then do your research well. As for surround sound, well 5.1 is a must have but it is often more complicated for TVs as you need a decoder to make all the outputs available.

Give the money to the poor and needy, aka me. :P

I think you're the only one here willing to spend 3 grand on a TV so I very much doubt anyone here has one or has been looking for one.

As far as your question goes, I think any TV for 3 grand will be sh!thot anyway.
