OK, I've taken a bit of a ribbing lately because I went headlong into HTML years and years ago, learnt what I thought was everything, then moved onto more complicated scripting languages, forgetting some of the most basic HTML things, like putting the tag in the proper place. I know where it goes, but my mind puts it there because I've done it so often. Anyway, enough of my problems, this is the place to list all your web design standards that you think every site should comform to.

Take it away, Tyla...

Stupid Flash introductions that take aaages to load and give you no way of skipping them!

Splash pages are annoying enough most of the time, but to keep me waiting there...

Tyla, you're a freelancer right? Did you start off like that, or become one after years of service to other companies?

Agreed, if used correctly, it's fine for online use. Comic Sans is the font to ban!

You can't have a mixture with standards? It kindo f cancels itself out?

HTML 4.0 is still valid but limited

XHTML 1.0 Strict is the current everyone should be using, but it's difficult to pick up as certain things aren't allowed

XHTML 1.0 Trans is HTML4 minus a few tags with a slant towards XML

XHTML 1.1 Sctrict isn;t supported and is still work inprogress, soon to be superceeded by XHTML 2.0, which from what I've looked at so far, will change the way you code forever as it reduced what you can do layout wise in favour of CSS 2&3
