Another free game up for grabs - best walkthrough/guide gets the prize. I'll let Silent Thunder give you the lowdown:
A walkthrough for the forums. Maybe it could help all the nice JATs and newbies by getting to know all the users. Basically you take the whole list of posters, I think the top posters for the last 30 days would be best as these guys and gals are still around and write a little guide to them. Whether it be they eat newbies or adore them and what forums they hang out in etc. It would be nothing personal like "They like chips and pizza" because well.. it's the Internet. Just a little friendly guide to all the users.
Also when ether a JAT / Newbie signs up they will probably feel slightly overwhelmed, this can easily be solved with a guide to the forums and how to get started. And where to post certain topics etc.
And like all the Extra GADs you obviously won't want it to be too serious so the guides would try to be comical and slightly 'wacky' as it were. Also improving the atmosphere of the forums to new users, if they see a serious walkthrough / guide to the users and forums they will think: boring. But seeing a funny one will make them want to stay because ukchatforums.com is a fun, friendly place.
So a summary:

The following are just a few pointers to help make your posting life here a little easier, even if you are familiar with other chat forums.
We'll not go through all the forums you can visit here as most of them are self explanatory. One good guess from you on their contents is probably all you'll need. However, if you are still unsure just pop into the forum and open a few of the topics to see what is happening in there.
Here though is a quick rundown on the less obvious ones.
General Chat - In here you could start a topic to say 'Hello, I'm new here' but that's a bit lame as we will be able to tell this from your bright red name. Please note that we are not interested in your age, sex or location nor are we interested in telling you ours. General Chat is the place for discussions and threads (otherwise called junk) which we do not need cluttering up any other forum
Life and Everything - Topics are varied but lend themselves to more serious matters and discussions / opinions. Here people can talk about anything which irks or interests them. This is also the home to many stories and poems that members write then post for feedback.
Web Design, PC, Internet and Freeola- Got any technical queries or need a PC recommendation then get your question posted in here. Our resident eggheads are more that willing to point you in the right direction. Freeola is the sister company to Special Reserve (SR) with links down the left hand side of this page if you wish to check them out.
Finally we will mention The Future Of Gaming (Prime Topics). This forum would have been long dead and buried if it wasn't for the Worlds Longest Thread but if you want a late night chat this is usually the place to be. Mindst it isn't really the worlds longest thread, it isn't even as long as the one in Sony - PS1 & PS2 forum but they keep trying. Bless.
A few 'do nots':
A full set of rules can be read by clicking on the link to them above but I've been here for nearly two years and I've only just found them. So if you can't be bothered here is a quick guide.
Do not advertise other web sites in direct competition to here. You will be verbally beaten up by the other members and then banned by the moderators. Just save us wasting our time and energy and DON'T BOTHER.
Do not worry about your status. You will only be that embarrassing red colour for approx. 24 hours then you will become a newbie. To check the criteria which you need to meet before your status changes again just click on the first link under your user name. This appears under your user name when you've posted a message and will probably read 'Just Arrived' or 'Newbie'.
Do not post new topic after new topic in order to boost your word count and number of posts. It will only annoy other users, making you unpopular and a target for ridicule and it will get you banned for being a pain in the backside. However, if this is why you are here, it will bring much pleasure to other users as we watch you being toyed with by the regulars.
Do not swear or post material, or links to material, which will be deemed offensive. This is a family forum. However, we are not prudes and some things are posted which are very near the knuckle. You'll just have to hang around a while to get a handle on how far you are allowed to go.
Don't let the biting 'wit' of some of the forum members scare you away. If you are doing nothing wrong (and you will know if you are) then just ignore them and they will eventually get bored of trying to bait you. They are generally a good crowd. Check on the Top Posters link above to see which members currently have no life, have spent the last 30 days glued to this site and therefore own the title of top poster.
Finally some 'dos', actually there are only three:
Do pop into the 'your details' section and fill in any personal details you wish to share. This page is also where you can add or change the tag lines which show under your user name. You get there by clicking the appropriately named link under 'LINKS, at the top of this page. Yes, there, right in the middle of the page. Found it? Actually if you have found it you've also found the link to the 'official' rules.
Do take advantage of Special Reserves urgent desire to give away a free game everyday. When you browse for any product on the site you are automatically invited to add a review. If yours is the best reveiw of the day you can claim yourself a free game. In case you missed the big link it will be in the top right hand corner of your screen. Don't cry in the SR site bugs and customer service forum if you don't win as we don't care. Instead have a look at the level of standards expected from winners and up your own standard accordingly.
Do have fun here. Enjoy yourself and make yourself a welcome addition to our forums.
