Most of the reviews from the US are panning it, with only a few giving praise calling it a fun “popcorn Flick”, which is a nice way to say “you’ve wasted your money paying full cinema ticket price for a film that should only be used as renting fodder”.
It’s a PG-13 too, why? I don’t understand why Hollywood tries to turn movies made for an adult audience into crappy watered down PG-13 tripeness that negate the point of watching them in the first place. Surely the only reason anyone would want to watch a film called “Alien Vs Predator“ is to see some excessive violence.
Oh well, one potentially good film ruined, I’d have loved to have seen what James Cameron could of done with this film having been linked to it early in development. I’ll probably rent it in a few months, and wait for what could be an even more disastrous Resident Evil sequel, in the mean time http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/alien_vs_predator/ it gives you a fair impression of what critics in America think of the movie.
AWESOME!!
choose any series you like - the matrix trilogy, star wars, aliens/predator, robocop.
It's a sad fact that all these great films series' have to eventually bite the big one, but it almost hurts how they usually end - in almost complete farce.
After reading a large amount of those reviews (something I wouldn't normally do for fear of spoiling the plot), I am pretty sure I'd rather not see this film at all. It'll just ruin my memory of these two great film legends.
I can't bring myself to think about the idea of a predator becoming friends with a human, and the plot just sounds nothing short of terrible.
What a shame - let's hope this horrible torturous demise is the last of the series' we have to suffer. I'll stick to my old DVD collection thank you very much.
The Alien series is a excellent set of films minus Alien4, but Predator is just sh!te, Predator with Arnie was O.K but the one with Danny Glover was painfully crap, plus in AvP I can't see the 'Aliens' winning Predators have alsorts of gadgets and strenght to kick ass. I was looking forward to it, was trying to avoid reviews of it because its bound to be slated but i'll end up renting it next year.
Freddy vs Jason vs Ash vs Alien vs Predator vs Godzilla spin off coming soon!
I just got set on buying the Alien Quadrilogy, I don't want to have to get a whole new box set later on.
If they do, it better be really good.
Zap2it reports on what the plot for the fifth and sixth Alien will be:
Weaver has said, "I'm not interested in returning back to Earth," yet sources say that much of the fifth film takes place when Earth is attacked.
Number five is set on Earth, with the planet under attack from alien warrior drop ships, which made their debut in the original "Alien" movie. In the process they make Earth look like an incubator while attacking, leaving alien eggs around the humans.
That's when Ripley realizes her dreams have played a role in what's happening and she evacuates and confines herself to a cell, but inevitably she will meet her nemesis face to face again.
Number six takes place on the home turf of the navigator of the ship. Aliens are taking over other plants and Ripley finds herself forced to turn to the dark side in order to save civilization.
