I'd just like to say that the crowd at Summerslam was one of the best i've ever seen at a wrestling show, they were so funny. Where else would you find wrestling fans doing a mexican wave during a championship match (take the hint WWE, JBL sucks as champion) and to answer the King's question of why they were booing the diva dodgeball:

Because it's a totally stupid segment and has no place on a wrestling show you pervert, go watch a Jenna Jameson DVD if you want to see women prepared to do anything for cash.

Good to see them boo Edge as well, take that as another hint WWE. Of course they cheer Jericho, he's far more talented and should have the belt right now instead of Randy 'I've only got the belt to screw Lesnar over' Orton

Toronto rules, and yes i am biased :-D

Sheesh guys, chill out a bit...it's only wrestling!

Lakers, this is the WWE. Look at bthe lineage of the World title, there have been some pretty horrendous champs (The Iron Sheikh, Hogan, Sgt. Slaughter 'Taker, Rock, Austin) down the years who have had to be carried by their superior opponents, who never got a the chance to wear the gold (DiBiase, Hennig, Dynamite Kid etc...) at least the WWE have attempted to right this wrong with Benoit and Guerrero and when you look at some of the former champs on that list, you realise that Orton isn't THAT bad. OK in an ideal world where the WWE appreciated 'wrestling' he wouldn't even be on the roster, but this is the WWE and you have to accept it is based on Vince's ideals.

Of course they booed Eugene. They're Canadian. They boo everyone who isn't Canadian. That why in the late 90s when the Hart Foundation stable were feuding with Austin, The L.O.D and Shamrock, they played heels in America, but faces in Canada. It's like Regal or Bulldog always getting a huge pop when they worked the UK matches.

Everyone on the roster should get a pop based purely on the fans being excited to see them. The only guys who get no crowd reaction whatsoever are the guys they don't know.

I agree we needed someone fresh in the title picture, but Vince seems to have picked the wrong guy. Randy is improving, but I wouldn't have put the title on him for another two years at least (based on his current rate of improvement). He still goes to rest holds too easily and desperately needs to add another half-dozen moves to his arsenal. If I was going to put the title on anyone as a surprise for the fans, I'd put it on Shelton Benjamin (when he returns).

At least the 300 pounders have an excuse for excessive use of rest holds. Randy keeps going on about being an athlete and being in great shape, blah blah blah. If that was true how come he needs to use the headlock two hundred times a match? C'mon Randy, all you've got to do is up the work-rate to win over the smarks...

Jericho had his run as champ and flopped. In losing the title he lost so much credibility that I doubt he'll ever hold the 'big-one' again. He didn't draw, got sloppy in the ring and his character hit the skids. After all that Jericho can't be considered a credible champion. Much as I like him.

Again, back to my previous points about Hogan et al.

As a heel, he' fairly entertaining on the mic. With his demeanor and conception though I can't se him being able to deliver any sort of baby face promo.

Sorry but if someone is given the world heavyweight belt that says to me they are the best in the business. Now the champ should not have to have someone else carry the match for him, he should be the one doing the carrying. That fact alone is reason enough for me to think that he is not ready for the title yet.

Tried to look cool? Now what are you on about? People are allowed to have different opinions to you, if they want to boo Eugene then they actually payed their money they can boo the hell they like. The Eugene gimmick has already partly been done by the likes of Stevie Richards and the Big Show where they steal other wrestlers moves and gimmicks, it's just this time they've chucked in the mental angle in as well.

> then why were they cheering for Randy?

I heard a few pops but they weren't cheering him for the whole match, i heard a few pops for JBL as well.

Sorry, mind finding a post from me saying that? Maybe people LIKE me are saying that but i'm not. I've been a big fan of Benoit having the belt and if he was going to lose it there's people alot more worthy then Orton.

Obviously missed the part in my post which said i would rather have Jericho as champ.

Yet you've already admitted earlier on in your post that Benoit carried the match, wow what a new world champion we have.

Oh my 2 moves in what? a 25 minute match? Geez i take it all back, he's a wrestling god. Please

Once again, he bored me on the mic just like he does in the ring. Granted he's not as bad as Triple 'I've said the same thing for 6 years' H but he's still nowhere near the levels of Austin, Rock or Mankind

People cheered Randy because he's quite a popular heel - most crowds have cheered him to an extent recently, and if we're honest the WWE wanted, and planned, for this to happen.

Did they plan for Eugene to get totally booed? No, and therefore the fans totally ruined a pretty decent angle and match.

That's my point, people thinking, I'll cheer Randy cos I'm cool and it shows that I know lots about wrestling cos he's a third genration wrestler so he must be a good wrestler.

Might they have been cheering Randy Orton because he's a third/fourth generation superstar?
