My dad used to keep fish when I was a kid... until my cat of the time chewed through the air tubes one night...

I tend not to stroke the pets we have at home either.

There are 2 reasons for this:

1) They are fish.
2) They have spines/teeth/sharp whiskers (no cats here).

I can feed them by fingers, as long as my fingers aren`t in the water, and the food is protruding a sufficient distance.

Noooooo way! Mess with his coat and he get nasty! Apart from being stroked, he doesn't like his coat messed with, and can get quite moody. He's quite a powerful moggy, so once the claws come out, you don't upset him any more.

Sensible. I take it the cat didn`t have the same hair cut.

I wouldn't say it felt cold, but then I don't really feel the cold that much. It certainly felt different though!

I've bought a baseball cap for my forthcoming holiday, though - it's short enough now that I'll get nasty sunburn without some cover!

Thats certainly on the short side! Did it feel cold when you first had it done? This is a serious question, because there was somebody at Uni with long hair, and he`s had it cut off totally now, and he always looks cold.

If you can't get one done using any of the methods mentioned, e-mail me - I'll give you my address, and you can post one to me. I'll scan it and e-mail it to you, and mail back the 'real' photo.
