My first few ideas:

SR Mini-Site EGAD

With the upcoming releases of big-name titles and even consoles, extra promotion for certain items is bound to be vital. So how about opening an EGAD competition that challenges users of the forum to have a go at make their very own mini-site of one of the many products sold on the site. Sites could contain screenshots, movies, flash animations, previews and information on the product in question, and a whole lot more as well.

I feel not only is this a chance for users to show their creative side, but a way to promote certain big name products for SR, and encourage more sales. Of course, if there was a particularly high standard of entries, you could possibly look at opening more than one mini-site. Anyway, that’s my first idea.


SR Wallpaper EGAD

I swear that, in the past, I’ve seen downloadable wallpapers for specific titles have been offered. I remember Halo wallpapers, anyway. Well, how about offering the chance for forum members to use their artistic talent to come up with some lovely looking wallpapers for peoples desktops, obviously with the famous SR logo included on them. Then, prizes can be dished out for the best wallpapers on show, and they can be used in conjunction with any current released products or upcoming ones.


SR Ukchatforums Image EGAD

That large “UKCHATFORUMS.com” image on the homepage of these forums, getting old, isn’t it? As is the slogan. Well how about assigning the task of creating a new logo to replace it, and those creating entries can also have their pick of a new slogan. Obviously, best looking logo equipped with finest and most suitable slogan will win the competition, and the winning entry can take its place atop the homepage.

I’m positive this would pull in a huge amount of entries.


SR Snapshot EGAD

Have you noticed the amount of picture threads Timmargh and people have stuck up on the forums? And Edgy said he would be set to the same too! That can only mean one thing; people like taking pictures (well, durr). Anyhoo, to the point, a snapshot EGAD. The person with the best video game or SR related snapshot wins. Again, I’m sure there would be plenty of entrants for this.


SR Image Advertisements EGAD

I’ve noticed that whilst banners have been scrapped from the site, a few images dotted around pages, as well as on user stats pages, have been kept to plug certain products. Well how about letting members battle it out to see who can come up with the best looking new images to fill these spots. New game releases and DVD/Camera products would receive sufficient advertising without you lifting so much as a finger to design adverts yourself, and judging by the amount of other art-related competitions in the SR’s past, I’m sure there would be no shortage of entrants.

You need to go around with a digicam and take a picture of the word special and a picture of the word reserve - or something that is special, and something that is reserved. For example -

You might take a picture of the "Sunday Special" offer in a shop window and a Picture of a parking space that is "reserved" and says so on the sign - the funniest calibration wins, and the possibilities are endless - you don't have to take a picture of the word - just maybe something special, and something reserved. Yes.

Create a guide for gaming newbies outling tips to be a good gamer, good games - with a review, a list of game websites, pros and cons of each console, etc

Special Reserve EGAD: Pass the Baton!

Basically if you want a baton you post in the Egad Thread - and you
get an e-mail with a unique ID code. Then you send that code to a
friend, who then returns to Egad thread and pastes the code along
with the username he just recived it off - he then gets an e-mail
with a code - he sends it to his friend, along with the original code
and name - and that person pastes the original code, and the other
code, with both user names in the thread - he receives a code and so
on. And only one code per e-mail per account, so it may just get new
people singed up too.

The person to get the most codes wins. Or something along those lines
- although it may require monitoring, so that might be a bad idea,
but surely something along these lines?
