I want to use Bittorrent for striclty legal purposes etc etc.

I want to download the stuff via the computer that isn't connected to the computer by USB (if you know what I mean - the software for the router is installed on the other computer). There's this whole port forwarding business, however.

Is this how I should be doing it?

If not, explain ffs. It's pishing me off.
:^D

And if it is the right way, I'll sure have fun entering all the ports.

No keep the settings in your router screenshot! Just disable the XP firewall.

Cheers.

So, and sorry about going over it over and over again, I'll just disable my XP firewall (and I can remove those settings in the screenshot)?

Wrong, the XP firewall is bloody excellent.

However you need to do something about it in order to get that magic green connection. Either you can forward the same ports again (which is easier with XP - it's the advanced properties, services, add), or you can disable it. With a router in place, disabling it isn't a problem at all, as your router renders XP's firewall pretty much superfluous. I have a router and my XP firewall is disabled,

No ZoneAlarm or anything.

My XP firewall is on, however.

What torrent client are you using? What port ranges have you set it to use? Just the default ones?

Make sure XP's firewall is disabled and that you aren't running things like zonealarm.

Make sure that the port forwarding is forwarding it to your ip address.

Your help.gif screenshot looks fine to me, there must be some other protection in place. Is your Windows XP firewall enabled? Any crap like norton, ZoneAlarm, etc?

Oh, and read this carefully, I'm only going to say this once, but it won't be the first: Your private port must be identical to your public port.

The problem with that is you're going to send 20+ external ports to only one internal port, which is going to cause.. well.. problems, and that isn't even the half of it. You really need to specify them individually.

I can tell I'm going to have to research this for you.

Yeah, but the format of it, as in, xxxx-xxxx.
As that didn't work.
Hmm.

And again, in this case, what goes in the private port bit?
This is annnnoooyyyinnnnggg.
