If (in the first Back to the future) einstein (the dog) is the first time traveller, during doc browns experiment, and einstein disappears for 1 minute, in the delorean. He re-appears as marty and the doc both jump out of the way, apparently, having skipped a whole minute .... why then, in the second film, does marty, when he travels into the future, with doc brown, see a future version of himself and a future version of his bird, jennifer, living out their lives, as though they were separate people?

It's always bothered me

Murder made to look like suicide?

One thing that always bothered me in the first film is that at the end when Marty goes back 10 minutes early to try and save Doc, he witnessses himself go back in time, but that Marty is an alternative Marty (who's "alternate" family is just normal to him)...then yada yada about doc and the bullet proof vest...then Marty goes home. When he wakes up his whole family has changed and Biff works for George etc...so presumably the whole course of Marty's life should be different, yet we are lead to believe that he still manged to meet Doc and end up at Twin Pine Malls at the right time!!!

and what of this alternate Marty when he arrives back in the present?

I'd go back 2 years and tell Owen to sign a 6 year contract.

Oh, the things I would do if I had a time machine...I would go back and slap myself for not putting more money on a Euro 2004 bet and other things...

Ah, but maybe someone did kill him, in the bunker. Otherwise we'd all be speaking German right now.

I reckon it was Marty. He decided to do some good, so he mugged the Doc, stole the Delorean-style Train, and went back to 1945. He was planning to whack Stalin too, but Spin City and/or Parkinsons got in the way. Heavy, eh?

The thing is, it would have already happened, and caused the paradox that the Docs always on about.

This is howyou know nobody will ever go back in time and kill Hitler, or we'd not know about him at this period in time, even if someone from the future a million years from now could go back, he won't kill Hitler, or we wouldn't have had World War 2.

It's that sort of thing that makes time travel gay.

we were watching from the point of view of Marty's original life, the Doc didn't 'remember' because Marty hadn't initiated the whole chain of events yet.

Yeah it's dead simple, Einstein went forward in time one minute. He hadn't *been* anywhere when he reappeared in the Delorean, that was him just arriving.
