Shut. Up.
We know you don't like rap and no-one cares.

I don't like it very much myself either but I don't go around annoying everyone who does any time they happen to mention it.

Just because it isn't to your taste doesn't mean it's bad. I'd rather gouge my eyes out than listen to some metal and rock bands but you don't see me jumping into every thread where someone mentions music I don't like going "DO NOT LISTEN TO THAT MUSIC. I DO NOT LIKE IT SO IT IS CLEARLY AWFUL AND SHOULD BE BANISHED INTO THE FIERY PITS OF HELL." And you know why I don't do that? because it's needlessly harassing people who may have been having a perfectly valid discussion with someone else with similar tastes to them.

Why would I want to aggravate someone just because they don't quite like the same music as me?

Your constant dronings that metal/rock = good and everything else = bad is both narrow-minded and stupid. There's plenty of crap in every genre and also plenty of good stuff.

When you judge music it's simplistic and retarded to judge it on a basis of genre and not by the individual merits of particular songs/artists.

Idiot.

Yes, but what you have to realise is that Iron Maiden are in effect living legends; How many rappers can you name who are still going well and popular almost 25 years after releasing their first album, and able to say that they were the inspiration for thousands of bands worldwide?

As I like to call them.

I'm not stuck in the 80s, it's just that a lot of my music is from the 70s and 80s. I know that it means you don't have to listen to it, I realise that people have different tastes in music to me, I just like my music and like to reccomend people stuff that's worth listening to from my viewpoint, and that of many other rock fans. And, yes, I do have a low opinion of some sorts of music but surely you have as well. It's just that I am quite vocal about it, as I personally can't stand quite a lot of the music that is produced today.

By the way, you've some things pretty wrong. The only member of Iron Maiden who sings on the [excellent] song "Number of the Beast" is Bruce Dickinson, (Possibly excluding backing vocals, but I don't know that much). You see, in rock there's such thing as using instruments as well as singing, unlike certain genres, which is illustrated by the fact that the song has some excellent riffs plus a pretty inspired guitar solo. You've got my image wrong as well; my image is far more modern than that, plus I'm not vain enough to wear large amounts of jewellery or black nail polish. Plus, it would look really stupid. And what's wrong with having long hair anyway? It's a rock image. Kind of like displaying your wealth by wearing garish jewellery and driving around very slowly in huge, ugly American cars in the way rappers do. Also, I only own two Iron Maiden albums, so you really can't judge me around that. 2 out of 52, not much to base a stereotype on, eh?

I know that it is very wearing that I'm always criticisng other stuff, but I know what I like. Surely you know what you like as well. I do go too far in my criticisms: Hell, even rock isn't exactly perfect, but at least I have a point of view, unlike people who anonymously say nothing about musical opinions. My final thoughts in this discussion? I go a bit far, but if people like you didn't respect other peoples' views then what do you expect? Yes, it may sound hypocritical, but I do accept that some people are into rap and its surrounding "culture", and that some people don't like rock, and I accept that and respect their viewpoint- I just hate their music. All I'm doing is stating an opinion (ie That I generally hate rap and don't really like certain other types of music), and surely you can accept that. I do state it too often, but perhaps if you took the views into consideration and ignored the some criticisms I make, and just took them, it would help.

Hmmm...

I'll keep it narrow, stick to the "elite". :-)
Say:

The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses :-)
What's Going On - Marvin Gaye
Forever Changes - Love

and maybe:

Screamadelica - Primal Scream
Axis: Bold as Love - Jimi Hendrix

sort of :-)
