What Sibs said

I hate most Hip/Hop songs I hear but occasionally I like one or two.

Such has never happened with Rap etc

Yeah, but its like when people ask if you like *whatever* band/artist and if you say "no, *whatever song* is crap", they may go 'oooh, yeah, but that's not a good song, this ones better'. Listen to that one, you think its also rubbish, person says another song is good, etc. etc.

At some point you have to draw a line and think, "hang on, maybe I just don't like this band/artist". I guess it's the same with various genres. I mean, there are always exceptions to rules, but hey, different people have different tastes, fact of life. If someone hears loads of rap/rock/whatever on the radio and dislikes all they hear, then you can hardly expect them to go digging for the 'better' artists which are more 'underground' or whatever...

So you're gonna write off an entire genre of music just on the basis of a few artists?

Pretty stupid if you ask me, but that's up to you.

It's true I know nothing about rap.

What I don't get is, when people say they don't like a certain genre.

" Well you know little about it "

" Correct, because what I have heard makes me want to rip off my ears "

Just like you think my music sucks.

There, done, yep.

Second one.

Twisted Sister, KISS, Motley Crue, Poison etc.
But that died a long long time ago, thank God.

I can agree with that point- Whitesnake's turn towards 'Hair Metal' pretty much ended them, as it did to Fastway, Saxon and Def Leppard, although Whitesnake's album "1987" was a perfect combination of power ballads and 80s hard rock.

I agree with that point- I don't personally like Raven, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters and several other rock bands, because their musical styles do not fit well with my tastes. The simple fact is that I do not personally like certain types of music, with some notable exceptions, purely because of the general sound. You can say that my judgement comes from listening to a minority of rap, but the stuff that some people are promoting as good in the aforementioned genre is not really much different to my mind. Can't you get it into your thich skull that I don't like practically all rap and a good amount of pop because of the poor lyrics and instrumental backing (If any)?

Rap-wise, I will put up with stuff like MC Hammer, The Streets, Run DMC and to a certain extent, Eminem. With pop, I don't mind the so-called 'Adult-Pop' because it is actually written in a far better way. What you don't understand is that it is possible to hate a majority of artists/bands/groups in a genre. Now enough of this, as I really can't be bothered to read what you post every time: That I am generalising. I am not, I am stating that a majority of a certain genre can be utter crap but some of it can be acceptable to my ears.

Judging by your comments you most likely have very little knowledge of the music so I'll just ignore you.

Though hair metal does suck.
