A big thank you to all that have made suggestions. A winner will be announced shortly. Watch this space...
This time we are after suggestions of who might want to advertise with us.
As I write there is an E-bay banner showing on screen. E-bay pay us to advertise those banners.
In total we display 2.7 million banner impressions per month. We would like to sell 40 to 50% of these to other companies who might like to advertise on our site. This would still give us 1.35 million banners to sell our own product range.
If you are the first to make a suggestion, and we subsequently sell advertising to that company within the next three months, then you will win an Extra Gameaday prize.
Companies that we already sell to don't count (don't ask, i can't give you a list).
Banners are sold for about £5 per thousand. If you want to actually sell some for us (to somebody you know) then let webmaster know. The commission is 10% (less tax if you are not self-employed). I'm not suggesting that you start cold-calling around the internet!
To recap - you need to suggest the name of a Company who might want to buy advertising on our site. The best way to identify potential candidates is to see adverts on other sites that you think would work well on this site.
So, for example, you might go to Totalgames.net and see an Intel Pentium 4 banner. You need to give us:
The name of the company (e.g. Intel)
Where you saw their advert (e.g. Totalgames.net)
What they were advertising (e.g. Pentium 4)
DON'T show names of our direct competitors.
DON'T suggest other similar retailers (such as HMV)
DON'T include "internal banners" i.e those advertising a product for sale on the same site as the banner. (e.g. we advertise lots of the products we sell in banners - these are internal banners).
Happy hunting!!!!
See you at the end of May
(both April Extra Filmaday and Extra Gameaday will be decided on Tuesday May 1st. Extra Gameaday for promotional ideas is still being sifted by Mark and that will take a while)
And er-no's prize for this is not confirmed. Well done er-no.

> I have a perfect suggestion.
I checked out free-banners.com but they require a link placed underneath every banner. No way.
Yes you can have multiple wins.
Weere: www.eb.uk.com
What they were advertising: Preorder pokemon puzzle challange.
Im not sure this is valid because of the rule of no names of companys in direct competition but i thought id chuck it in.
BT are always spending on ads. So are the Government.
One thing. If you show Microsoft ads I will never buy anything from you again.
There is a site called free banners
you simply exchange banners with them and they give your banners to other sites and they give banners to other peoples sites for you to show so your traffic to your website increases by loads. It is free and you get loads of visitors to your website. You submit to them what you believe is a banner summerising your site and what is does and it gets shown on the web to loads of sites which attract alot of customers. All you do in return is show banners that are from other sites to you. The html code is given on the website and i asked my friend what benifits it gave him and he said he noiced a signifficant difference in the number of visitors
check it out it is really good

It workerd for my friends i dont see what harm it would do on here.
