I was very impressed with the movie as a whole. The animation and detail were indeed exquisite, and the gags at some points made me laugh so hard I couldn't hear the next gag. I loved the new character 'Puss in Boots' (I think is his name). The 'COPS' rip-off scene was over the top, and him being busted with catnip had me crying almost. I did have some problems with the movie, though.
Some of the humor seemed a tad inappropriate for pre-teens in my opinion. The biggest one being the discovery that Pinocchio was wearing a woman's thong. I would think they could come up with something a little more tasteful to make Pinocchio lie. But besides this minor grievance, I would still recommend it as a family movie, as there are many gags that the kids can get, and many only the parents will.

I got dragged along to see it a couple of weeks ago, it was actually better than i thought it would be. Like you said, that cops bit was probably the best bit of the film, plus i just love the character Donkey!!
