Hey, anybody know much aout fixing computers? My Drivers for my two CD-ROM drives broke or something, but they aren't working. My friend who works on computers said to delete the driver, shut down the computer, then un-plug the drives. Start it back up, then shut it down and plug them back in then start it up, and he said it would find them and re-install it. I tried this, but after I remove the drivers the computer freezes and when I start it up, the drivers are still there. Anybody know how to fix this? Or do I need a new computer?

You don't need a new computer.

Why do you need to fiddle with drivers etc in the first place.

Because since the drivers aren't working, it won't recognize the CD-ROM drives, so its like not having them. That makes it impossible to play games or listen to my cds, plus Doom 3 is coming out soon, and I boutght Freelancer and the Doom Collection and I really want to play them.

He doesn't know much, but he fixed it once. A power surge shorted out the motherboard, I never would have figured that out.

How the hell do drivers just break.

Try uninstalling the drivers.

Then go to windows update, run it and if there are any drivers for them it will find them.

There's no such thing as CD-ROM/DVD ROM/CD-RW drivers it should be already installed with your Operating system unless you deleted them in System devices even then it'll reinstall the drivers for it when you reboot.
