Hey, anybody know much aout fixing computers? My Drivers for my two CD-ROM drives broke or something, but they aren't working. My friend who works on computers said to delete the driver, shut down the computer, then un-plug the drives. Start it back up, then shut it down and plug them back in then start it up, and he said it would find them and re-install it. I tried this, but after I remove the drivers the computer freezes and when I start it up, the drivers are still there. Anybody know how to fix this? Or do I need a new computer?

Yup, odd, that. If it does turn out to be your IDE controllers, you're going to need a new mobo unfortunately. Best get it checked out properly though, before you go and splash out on a new one.

Have you tried another drive that you know works? It could just be that the drive itself has died.

I'm pretty much all out of ideas, at least at this time of night. So hope you fix it. If I have any more ideas I'll post them tomorrow.

You only have two controllers, primary and secondary. Each can have two drives, master and slave. What does it say in the drive properties box? Does it say that tge drive is not installed properly?

Nobody messed with it, my Primary and Secondary IDE controllers are messed up, but the master IDE controller still works for some odd reason.

Your drivers couldn't corrupt itself unless someone tampered with it, your drives are dead or the whole IDE thingy controller is dead.. which I don't think so if your hard drive still works.
