I applied a few weeks ago and my application was discussed at the meeting of my local freemason lodge on Friday night (ie last night) and I was accepted!

Im guessing the ones they decline are people with criminal records etc, they dont sound very picky, its much the same process as with any organisation.

When you apply you have to explain why you want to be a member and stuff, then at the meeting they discuss who they'll accept and who they decline.
They don't just let everyone in.

These days yes.
There aren't really many judges or 'high up' people around here so they don't really pay much attention to those ideas.
