I've just bought Vol 3 subliminal verses by Slipknot, and I advise ANYONE who likes metal/hard rock, to buy it. It's one of the best albums I've ever heard.

I would have added Jimi Hendrix's 'Are You Experienced?' to the list, but I'm not quite sure, because a) I haven't heard much of his music and b) Whether his music is classed as rock or hard rock. Of course he was one of the greatest guitarists ever (In fact the greatest in many people's minds, probably mine as well), but I don't fully know.

Well, if you are into hardcore/death metal, I suppose it must be quite good, although I am yet to see a review ranking it as one of the best. In my opinion, the best hard rock and metal albums are, in no particular order:
Metallica- Master of Puppets
Nirvana- Nevermind
Led Zeppelin- IV
Black Sabbath- Paranoid
Judas Priest- Stained Class
However I'm more interested in 70s and 80s metal, so different people's lists are bound to be completely different. to me, Slipknot are really no more than a bunch of gimmicky freaks, but their music does have its own time and place.
