Probably have to be the texas chainsaw massacre remake for me. That was seriously scary. Also one hour photo was abit creepy.
Anyway, answer the question :)

The movies that seem to stay with me as the scariest are those that I saw in my early teenage years. Around the time when the government went mad about banning so called 'video nasties'. I remember 'The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue' and bad one. At the time some of the movies being made were p*ss your pants scary. I guess that's why they had and 18 certificate (or was it still an X certificate then?) and as a very young teenager I shouldn't have been watching them. Oh well.

If you watched them now though I am sure that most would be either laughable or annoying rather than scary.

The scariest movie I ever saw was The Evil Dead. You have to take into account though, that I saw this in the very early 80's just after it's release. If you watch it now it's fairly laughable, as SFX move on. A Nightmare on Elm Street, did it for me too. I always find the scariest movies are those where the baddies seem unstopable.

Heh. I seem to recall that was at my parents' house many many moons ago. I agree; a film that has 4 or 5 spoilt teenagers crying with laughter HAS to be good.
