I got the new mag through this morning which includes the new 1.7GHz P4 machines, which I may be tempted to order at the end of the month. But maxxpc.com is out of date, and only shows the 1.4GHz and lower machines.
Call me pedantic, but I prefer ordering online... :-)
What I would like to see is a system whereby you click on the MAXX model of your choice, and you are presented with a list of the various components which are standard for that particular model - amount of RAM, CD drive, graphics card, sound card etc. Very similar to what you have now, but as well as having 3 or 4 upgrade options, you would also have one or two 'downgrade' options, giving the ability to downgrade certain 'unnecessary' components to offset the cost of upgrading the more 'necessary' areas.
I know that may sound daft, but bear with me!
Some people may not want or need all of the facilities offered by some components. For example, I may be buying a PC for 'home office' or DTP use, and not primarily games. I may choose a MAXX 4D P3 1000 for the power/price combination, but I may not need a CD re-writer, amazing 3D graphics card or surround-sound, and I may need a large monitor.
The option to replace a CD-RW drive with a standard 24x CD-ROM and choose 'basic' sound and graphics cards, in order to offset the cost of extra RAM, a 21-inch monitor and the cost of the MS Office suite would be ideal in such a situtation.
You wouldn't need to list every available upgrade/downgrade option - just a few either side of the standard options, and maybe a radio-button for "Other" combined with a text box/drop-down to enter/select the catalogue number of the component you require installed in place of the 'standard' selection.
Not sure if you'll consider this feasible, but it's about the only thing I can find that would be an improvement in my personal opinion.

Thank you. I will definitely be buying a MAXX (it'll be my third PC from you since 1996!) but it's just a question of when. End of May is likely, as that's when the graphics card I want should be available.
I'm on holiday from 13th to 28th June, so I may order before I leave and have it waiting for me when I get back. :-) (Talk about buying yourself a welcome-home present!)

I will do. Already have one suggestion, but I'll post them later - after I get home from work and have a bit more time to explain them properly!

No - the prize is yours. (even if you don't buy a MAXX)
Take a look through the MAXXPC.com site though, in case you have any further comments.
Tony - I will understand and accept if you wish to recind the Filmaday prize.
