World Exclusive review of PS2 Crazy Taxi, info on Commandos 2 and other WW2 games, RE:CV and Devil May Cry
News about: Sega's Headhunter, Hidden & Dangerous 2, Escape from Monkey Island, Ecco the Dolphin, Ferrari 355 Challenge, Battle of the Planets.
One of the most interesting parts (for me anyway) is on page 47, where there's more news on Dropship; it is *not* an RTS game; instead it is "a melding of flight sim, strategy game and action. It's described as "one of PS2's most exciting and original" games. Can't wait! :-)
I part-exchanged Shadow of Memories for Sky Odyssey, and because SoM was in mint condition (as all my games are), they gave me £20 off Sky Odyssey's price!
Nothing more, won't change the face of gaming as we know it.
A flight game that isnt reliant on loads of controls.
Yeah there's fogging and a little pop-up, but it's enjoyable, which is what counts for me.
You can customise your plane, different parts, the colour, even create your own emblems to put on.
Initially easy, but gets hard. And not in the Tomb Raider "So what the hell do I do now?" but "Damn, I almost did that, I'll try again".
A test of skill and not deductive reasoning.
Different routes to take, loads of planes and features to unlock through target and sky canvas.
Think Pilotwings on N64, with better graphics, nicer gameplay and just..different
I've a feeling it may be one of those 'surprise' games that comes from nowhere and storms the charts. Not perfect by a long way; definitely has its problems, and the company that made it have never been heard of before (apparently); but it's very simple, and strangely addictive.
Won't be to everyone's taste, that's for sure. I'm not trying to plug the official PS2 mag at all, but you may want to buy that and try the (time limited) demo first.
Got it a couple of weeks ago and cant stop playing it.
It's different.
No guns, no enemies, just easy (once you learn) flying.
No difficult controls to master, but it will take skill.
Adventure/Story mode: Ranges from flying through tight and twisting ravines to rescuing balloon pilots drifting towards cliffs.
Sky Writing: Draw shapes with coloured smoke to unlock stuff
And free-flight.
I do enjoy this one muchly.
Good call!
