Is it really worth it?

This topic is really for those at uni. Who's moved away and who hasn't? Whats your uni accomodation like?

I think you should try to go to a uni a reasonable distance from your home. It encourages you to get out there and meet new people and see new things. I'm from near Brighton, which has a very decent uni (Sussex, not Brighton), but I decided to go all the way to York! (I agree this is a bit extreme!)

If you stay near your home, you have no incentive to make new friends or try new things, which is part of what going to uni is all about. It makes you (in theory) a more rounded person. You get to meet people from all over the country and, indeed, the rest of the world. If you can just pop down the local with all of your mates from college, that's too easy and you can miss out on a lot of stuff.

One of my friends went to Brighton and lived at home in her first year, partly because of her b/f. But, she moved to Brighton for the next two years and was much happier.

Just my two cents!

Most of my mates are going away anyway so i'll be forced to meet new people. And all these new things your talking about, do you mean paying rent and cooking food because that really doesnt excite me too much.

even if you weren't doing a degree just living the student life is so worth the debt. Uni years are easily the best of your live. 3 years of near non-stop socialising. Great for sport, brilliant atmosphere. Living at home is quite possibly the worst thing you can possibly do especially if you travel a long way, unbless money really is an issue. You woin't build anywhere near the number of relationships/friendships. Living at home and going to uni i imagine is more plain than school. Its all about the halls and student house atmosphere. easily the best years of your life.

i don't know about u guys but my parents would probably get pretty annoyed after the 10th time of turning up at 4 in the morning and staggering to bed loudly. Which is why i'm sodding off to edinburgh. already know a few randoms who are going which is quite good.

I think I miss quite a bit of the 'student life' but in a way what is that?

Get a random haircut
Where some 'original clothes'
Meet some Chinese person
Talk about 'life' and stuff

Like wow

I hate students

I'm sure most degrees require basic spelling.

Fair play. Damn, I was hoping to have an argument with some BNP guy. I hate the BNP (or P as they should be called, I don't want the repersenting the British Nation) and the NF (again, should just be F).
