Sony win hands down. Better consoles, more up to date marketing attracting more gamers, not just kiddies, and definitely a larger variety of gameplay, with better graphics, FMV easily accessible and adding to the enjoyment of games, cheaper products, better peripherals, and a larger userbase.

What do you think?

I concur with Edgy that the Gameboy is one of the most popular 'consoles' of all time, but what I'm trying to get at here is best allrounder.

I think Sony have improved the last 10 years of gaming more than any other company, without them the market would have stalled and become stagnant.

Sony brought variety, more adult biased gaming, and a better console than had ever been seen before onto the market when it was introduced.

Handhelds are a separate issue, because the only real contender in the marketplace is the Gameboy which will then be replaced by the GBA. I'm talking about the future of gaming boundaries being pushed further, not the way you play games.

Sony pushed those boundaries, and will continue to do so on the PS2. In two years time I feel the topic will then be:

Sony vs X-Box.

Nintendo will be pretty much out of it by then.

Then came the Gameboy Color! It was only 8-bit but it beat the 32 bit console with ease!

In fact the 8-bit system did so well that Sony's console was knocked off the top spot by it!

The gameboy is one of the best consoles and it has been out for atleast 12 years! It has a huge back catalogue of games and plenty more being released!

The games are good and have good storylines
for example:

Pokémon Gold/Silver
Donkey Kong Country
The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening DX
and loads more!

You don't have to worry about memory cards or having to manage them because most games have either passworded levels or battery backup memory which recharges as you play so there is no loss of data. You can also plug your carts into the SNES and play them in full colour with special borders and some with extra sound effects that aren't available on the Gameboy.

Also if you wanted to you could by:
Add on analogue sticks,
clip on cases
Sticker sets
Mega Mem carts
Rumble Paks
Link cables
Magnifiers
Worm lights
And hundreds more!

Thanks for reading this
Edgy! :)

So you wont admit defeat?

Well the Gameboy is also counted as a "Portable" console just like the PSOne! So does that mean the PSOne isn't a console?

Therefore the N64 won!

But that's not true, because the Gameboy won the console war! And that's why Nintendo beat EA who beat Sony last year!

In repliance to the title "Why the PSX was the most successful console ever":

It wasn't! In fact the PSX lost to the 8-bit handheld console called Gameboy!

In fact Nintendo had the best performance last year
Then it was Electronic Arts
Then I think it was Sony!
