I'll start it off.
Just come out in the UK recently is Princess Mononoke. WATCH IT! It's great!
:)
also i got the Akira region 1 in that wicked tin (which is now unavalible which someone will probably point out it isn't) but anyway any other manga i should look at as i think we haven't had a big raved about released in ages.
The confusion lies in the company Manga Entertainments (who called themselves Manga instead of Anime because they were aware of the problems pronouncing Anime) We called it Manga as around the 90ies it was the only way to refer to them.
Many people in the UK still wrongly call it Manga however this is changing with some companies such as the Sci Fi channel and Playnation magazine referring toit as Anime and not Manga.
Manga Entertainments seem to release a lot of gross, this is because they purchase the animes at their chosen target audience "teenage boys who watch things there parents don't want them to watch". Despite what people think many animes are not gross and you'll find that only 5% of animes (if not less) is gross yucky porn stuff.
You should consider Animes as films, there are many different genres. Animes for toddlers, kids, teen boys, teen girls over 15, adults (i.e porn) and mature people (i.e kids won't understand). There are many different catagories ranging from romance, action, adventure, comedy, horror, sci-fi, pretty much all of them.
If you would like more information on Animes just do a search on yahoo.com or yahoo.co.uk for websites within the UK.
Please remember that if it's animation it's "Anime" if it's Japanese comic it's "Manga" it's been over 10 years now and everyone really should start calling it correctly.
P.S For those that think anime is for kids or sick perverts I highly suggest watching Princess Mononoke, that should really open your eyes.
It's a quality Manga film!
:)
