Giancarlo Fisichella has taken pole position for the San Marino Grand Prix. Jordan are officially the best cars in qualifying, with this pole position taking their total tally to 7 in 38 attempts and Fisichella with 4 in his career.
It was a very tight session near the front with a lot of cars split by hardly anything and I'd think a few drivers would be unhappy to miss out on a higher placing.
It was not a good day for the top 3 Championship chasers as Sato, Salo and Ralf Schumacher find themselves at the back in 19th, 20th and 21st places respectively. Pizzonia is in a position to grab a few points to his tally with 6th on the grid.
Fisichella's Jordan was the only car to break under 1m23s and takes pole position, the second one for Jordan this season. Raikkonen has been on the front row for 2 of the 3 races so far and has no points to show for it. Raikkonen starts 2nd this time and will be looking to get some points on the board. World Champion Firman has had a poor start but things are looking up with 3rd place. Pantano will be dangerous in 4th and De La Rosa will hope to score some points for himself in the Championship and to show the team that Salo doesn't have to do all the work. Ferrari are looking a lot better this season and Villeneuve will start 7th. Barrichello rounds out the top 8 in the Renault.
