Muh? Promoting members of a particular ethnic group to fill quotas? Surely that will incite racism amongst officers from other ethnic groups deserving promotions? I don't think the Police Force have thought this one through properly...

This new fast tracking thing isn't actually a plan.

It is just one of the possibilities that the police are considering to get more ethnic minority officers into the police.

And anyway, under current discrimination laws, it would be illegal, and so won't be intruduced, but it isn't policy, if thats what your all thinking, just an idea.

Hmm. The only legitimate reason for this measure would be to counter racism in the police's normal promotion channels.

If there is such racism in the police, then frankly they have bigger problems than promotion, and all the 'coffees with milk' they can drink won't change things.

In Thailand they couldn't believe that we're not allowed to say or do certain things here for fear of being branded racist or sexist or whatever. They've got the idea over there - do what you want. Even if it involves eating puppies.

There's a great Margaret Atwood short story about over-PCness, and I hate Atwood, so that's an indication of its goodness.

I don't know anyone whos ever got offended by some one saying blackcurrent squash and yet people aren't meant to say it as it's politicaly incorrect!
