...is hardly what I would call it.

Today has been one really depressing day for me. Without going into great deal about the whole day in this topic, I want to tell you all about this rather unusual dream I had. It is so unusual for me to even remember what happened for a moment in a dream, let alone remember a large portion of it.

I'm not sure how it started, but I know I was walking through what I associated with a local park (not the playground style park, more of a garden style). I recognised every part of it and my mind called it by the name of a park just 1/4 mile away from my home.

It was night time, and I seperated from Albinoman (note: My friend, not the character from the stories.) I headed for a stream and as I got there I could see a kid, aged around ten, with a gunshot wound to his upper right chest near his shoulder. He was floating down the stream on his back with his eyes open looking directly upwards with a scared look on his face. I didn't recognise his face.

I called for help as I pulled him out of the water and Albinoman came (after a short while). My instinct reaction was to help him so I took him to some kind of shelter and found a coat for him to keep him warm. Someone else (who I didn't even see in the dream - just knew it happened) called for an ambulance and then things seemed to change in the dream.

The boy wasn't in any pain, though the wound was still present. Suddenly the lights went off and windows smashed with single gun shots. I remember ducking and running to get the boy to safety, as if the boy was important for some reason. I remember running passed a bare wooden table with a matching chair and it seemed significant. Then the next thing I remember was being awake.

Anyone have any idea why this dream has been playing on my mind all day?

Right me an Flockhart have been discussing this dream on MSN and we think we have worked it all out. Hurrah! So here is a step by step readthrough of it.

The fact it is set in a football stadium despite us both hating football shows that I have preconcieved ideas about something in my life that I am yet to experience in full just like I hate football but haven't even watched a game the full way through.

The other 2 guys in the dream were very attractive and the fact that they were "scoring" all the time in front of my nose with X there shows I doubt X's loyalty.

The fact I was sitting with X shows that I want to be with X but the fact I wasn't up there playing the game begins to show that I have an inferiority complex. This is underlined by the fact that the other two guys were scoring all their goals with fancy acrobatic moves which I could not do. This is the biggest sign I have an inferiority complex. It is finally underlined by the fact that they were both more attractive than me.

Basically. I don't think I'm good enough for X. This can also be seen when they come running back to see us but now I recall they were mainly smiling and talking to X and I was just there joining in. Nothing special just me, there having a laugh. I was certainly not portrayed in that dream as anything but a friend.

I also remembered some things while talking to Flockhart which I thought may be important. I remember us all going there in a car. The car was a slightly darker than sky blue colour and since I was sitting in the front passenger seat and X was driving I thought that represented a sort of calm before the storm as those 2 guys were in the back seats like animals waiting to pounce. The colours of their football strips were horizontal stripes, white and orange and I think since Orange is quite vibrant colour, not easy on the eyes I thought that shows that I percieve them as some kind of threat. Especially since throughout my dream they are portrayed as practically perfect partners for X and they are always doing all this impressive stuff and then running up to smile and have a laugh about it with X.

If however anyone wants to challenge our interpretations, think something is misinterpreted or thinks we have missed something vital then please point it out. Thanks all :D

Short answer
Youre being pulled in a direction that you're unsure about, because youve got already got a pre-concieved idea about what to expect and it has delayed you.

I had a wierd experience with a dream today. Last night i went to sleep and I don't remember everything but I was at a football match. X had taken me with 2 other friends. I HATE football though and have never met the other 2 people in my dream before in my life. Anyway they went away to get drinks and stuff I assume leaving me and X to watch but then they were playing football! They joined the losing side and did all these acrobatic shots and stuff and by the end the score was something ike 50+ to them! Every now and again though they'd come off the pitch, run up to us and they were ecstatic. Jumping about smiling and stuff. I was having a great time with all of them. I woke up though so that's as far as it got and I can't remember anything else about that dream although I'm sure there was more.

Oh I just realised I never told you what was wierd about it. Well today me and X were just walking round town and for the first time in my entire life. After having this dream about going to a football match, we walked past one of the biggest football clubs in Edinburgh. It just felt strange because we hadn't planned to go there and we both hate football. We just walked and ended up passing it. Ohhh spooky no?

The boy represents you? And the wound = life?
Maybe it was harking back to the time, as a kid, you first got hurt by the world - and realised it's not a perfect place.

Perhaps someone calling the ambulance expresses you wanting to get away from what you've become since the world darkened.
But the fact it never showed up (and the gun shots through the windows) show you're either reluctant, or someone's stopping you, from growing any more.

But then again, perhaps not.

I haven't had a dream I can remember in years. 'Tis a shame, because I love dreaming - and thinking about what they could mean.

You'd be suprised how accurate that does seem to be about my personal life.

I'm not going to go into any detail on the forums as it isn't my way, however I do find that very interesting. It's giving me something to think about most definately.

Well it's transition, youve gone from walking in the dark with a friend to being the protector, as for the gunshot that's just you being dark but it's from that point on that you react naturally and care, it's how you would want to react, you want to care naturally and in the dream that is what you do.

The park is your setting, it's the dark place you are in at the moment.

That is a very interesting interpretation, and to some degree fairly accurate.

Before I go into much detail on my personal life, I'd like your views on the way my friend was in the dream, as well as the stream, the gunshot wound on the boy and and park.

Note: I've only been to the park it seemed to be a couple of times

I'll get round to the boy in a minute, but firstly

You said there was a blank table and one chair and it got your attention for no reason, it's way of drawing your attention to something.
You would associate a table and a chair together but they stuck out for a reason, usually that sort of pairing is to show you opposites, the table is a symbol of the provider especially for men, but there was only one chair which would suggest lonliness.
As for the child it is a furtherment of that idea that you want to care for someone naturally, maybe you don't feel you care like that about anyone at the moment.
I'll leave the interpretation for you to work out.
