I'm sure you all know about/have it already but gamespot seemed to think it was new news yesterday.

You can have upto 7 or 8 characters on a server. In other words, loads.

Yep, can't have Horde & Alliance on same server though

So can you create as many characters as you want providing you are prepared to drop back to level 0?

That's the beauty of WoW, it walks you through.
Only tip I'll offer, because I was puzzled for a minute or two, is you may start in FPS view. Pull the view out with middle-mouse button. I spent a while walking around shouting "FPS view? I hate you beardy fools" until somebody explained.
Then I ran away in shame, straight into Duskwood and was eaten by a wolf
