Do they so desperately need him that they would seriously allow him to play?

Just catching the headline made me wince. Wonder how his teammates will react? Possibly more professionally then he did two years ago.

This guy's past his best now surely.

Gods I was so angry with him for, what I considered as, walking out on his teammates and leaving them on the eve of the world cup and I'm not even Irish.

The bit that made me laugh was:

"Roy is extremely passionate about playing for his country"

Yes of course he is, thats why he walked out on them in the middle of a world cup, a cup that players dream to play in.

Pathetic.

He does strike fear into the opponents with his right hooks, something Alan Shearer found out the hard way.

Im Irish, and I was angry, very angry when he walked out on us during the world cup although this will be a big boost for the country, I have to question his commitment because you can almost that if Ireland hadnt drew with Brazil and beat Czech Republic he wouldn't have came back. We don't need him anyway we have Liam Miller, Matt Holland and Healy has been playin superb for us. So does Ireland really need a player that is going to cause more negative things than positive.

Not sure its a case of needing him, i think its a good decision myself he was a good asset for the Irish.

Mind you if an England player had done a similar thing to England, im not so sure i'd be so forgiving and pleased.
