Indeed, that is of course the danger.

One day, I want to point and laugh at all the people who are smashing up rainforests and species because they will eventually kill their own livelihood.

Then I'll cry and hide the fact I'm a tiny bit responsible.

If they were killing them purely in the interest of preserving cod supplies (which really is none of our business anyway), then I'd agree with it. but I suspect this ruling will be exploited by those in the fur trade. a green light for murder is what it is.

It's all about the balance of stuff - it may be brutal but if it's needed it's needed. It's wanton slaughtering that isn't neccessary that is even more brutal. Of course, seals are lovely fluffy creatures - but isn't that simply because they relate to our ideas of 'lovely fluffy creature' and therefore are somehow sacred?
