I dunno if this will take off, but it's worth a shot.
Use this thread to talk about:
World Championship Wrestling(Not the WWF version)
Extreme Championship Wrestling(again, not the WWF version)
World Wrestling Federation(Everything before the name was changed to WWE, but essentially the Pre-Attituide era and the Attitude era)
Any other retro wrestling moments/memories opinions.
Links to archived results etc.
Please DON'T use this thread to talk about:
Any WWE stuff.
NWA-TNA.
You get the picture.
Enjoy!(maybe)

Oh I have...I'm what you might call a tape 'collector' these days...
My prized tape from Japan features the flaming ropes match (featurig Sabu and The Sheik) where they overdo the petrol and the whole ring goes up with only the Sheik not being quick enough to get out before burns were inflicted...crazy...

and for those who respects what Nick Mondo has gone through pick up a tape of some hardcore japanese wrestling :-D
****BACKLASH SPOILERS**BEWARE***
Backlash saw Benoit defeat HBK with a sharpshooter, with Earl Hebner as the referee - in Canada. And after the match, Chris Benoit got on the mic and screamed at HBK. He mentioned that HBK "screwed Bret," that he tapped tonight, and then challenged HBK to a five-minute match. HBK declined.
Interesting stuff really...

Well, I'm on lunch at work trying to cram in as many messages as I can...checking spellings isn't on my list of priorities.
BTW, for anyone who respects what Mick Foley has put his body through, you need to get hold of a tape of CZW's Tournament of Death 2. 'Sick' Nick Mondo is my new hero...

I will give you a brief rundown, but if you want more, then:
a)Read Foley's book.
b)Search google for: "Survivor series screwjob"
Here it is:
Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels were feuding within the WWF, but outside the storylines, they actually truly hated each other!
This mostly stemmed from Bret's jealousy of Michaels, since HBK began to eclipse the Bret Hart legacy.
Anyway. Bret was rapidly losing popularity, and WCW offered him a deal.
Bret signed, due to Vince not being able to offer as much cash.(and other reasons)
Vince was actually nice to Bret in his last few months with the company, and he even gave him the World title.
Meanwhile, DX formed, and Shawn Michaels became no.1 contender(Wasn't it by beating 'taker in the first ever Hell in a Cell?).
The match was scheduled for Survivor Series, and Bret's contract was finished a couple of weeks after.
Bret kindly asked Vince not to make him lose his last match in the WWE to his arch enemy, HBK.
Vince apparently agreed, and the plan was for Bret to lose/forfeit the title the next night on Raw, after a no-contest match with HBK.
What actually happened at Survivor Series will go down in history. I remember watching it live and knowing something wasn't right.(i didn't have internet access those days)
Michaels locked Hart in the Sharpshooter and Earl Hebner instantly called for the bell.
The crowd went silent. Did Bret submit? Was the time limit up?
Nope, HBK was the champion!
(I was a huge HBK fan, so I was delighted, but I knew something was fishy.)
Bret punched Vince in the face backstage after the show.(according to Foley)
I am starting to rant, so i'll cut it short.
Basically, everyone was in on it except for Bret. He expected both the Hart foundation and DX to interfere in the match, casuing a double DQ.
Michaels originally denied knowing anything, but recently admitted being in on it.
It didn't help that Survivor Series was in Canada, either.
The WWE took years to go back there because both Hebner and Vince received alot of heat.
You can still hear the occasional "you screwed Bret" chant when they are in Canada.
So yes, Lipe, Bret was tricked. Did he deserve it? I think he did. But that's for another day.

Can someone please explain to me what exactly happened with Bret Hart and the WWE (WWF at that time)? I heard he was tricked or something? Was it actually a trick or was it part of the storyline?
