Right, Im trying to convert Digital TV broadcast MPG into a format that even Windows Media player can understand, and cut out adverts along the way:
Ive "demux"ed the MPG D-TV streams and this results in an editable MPV file - I can then paste and cut etc...
but how do I then reconvert mpv to mpg???
Also are DVDs MPV??
Cheers guys!!
TMPGEnc (encoding dvd quality MPEG2), Goldwave (for sound), FlaskMPEG and TMPGEnc dvd author (lets you author and create some spiffing menus).
Whilst flicking through my various software i think i may have found you a solution. You should be able to use FlaskMPEG to convert the mpv to an AVI, then use TMPEGEnc to convert to MPEG.
The AVI will be quite large though, make sure youve got some reasonable HDD space. About 1.5 hours takes up about 40gb(ish).

Ok so this program is splitting .mpg files into associated .mpa and .mpv files... if burnt to DVD would they be played concurrently?

MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 video elemantary stream(no audio). Also called M1V for MPEG-1 video and M2V for MPEG-2 video.
