Hey folks, my turn to pick the subject for the short story contest.

And it is...

An old mill.

Keep stories under 1500 words, and have them posted by the 17th.

Good luck, and I look forward to reading them.

Oh, and put (SSC2) before the topic title, so I know it's an entry. Fail to do so, and I might not read it. eg (SSC2) The Old Mill

But don't call your story the old mill

Congrats Paradox :D

Although you do realise that Meka has set one hell of an standard when it comes to judging which you also have to reach :D

In third place, is Paradox, with The Dark Place. Well written throughout, but let down by a few typo's.

In second place is Black Glove with Finnbarr. An intriguing tale, with an excellent voice.

First place, however, goes to Paradox with Spice. I loved this, thought it was a great twist at the end.

So well done to Paradox, not only for winning, but also taking third spot.

The standard was quite good, and I was pleased with the number of entries. Plenty of dark tales, though some of the others offered more variety.

It was very enjoyable to judge the competition, especially as I had no idea of who had written the stories. I was surprised to find that The Dark Place and Spice came from the same author!

So well done once again Paradox: remember when setting the next compo to limit each entrant to one entry. ;o)

I noticed that you'd popped all the stories and have read all your comments. Very inciteful (sp) and helpful. The effort you put into this seems to have been tremendous. Thanks.

As you can see, I've now read and commented on all of the entries.

I read them all over the last couple of days, but felt it would be unfair to comment on them as I read them, so I simply did them all together.

Coming in a second, the winners...

Heh, mine was about 300 or 400 words. Most of mine amount to about that much, but that's maybe because I hate developing characters, giving a back story and always find it hard.
