Thought I already had seen it, but obviously not! Although the book is sitting on the shelf waiting to be read. Sounds goodgood.
You don't know where it came from (not a problem - I mean, who knows where Ebola or AIDS came from?), and it doesn't really end, does it?

The bits that made me cringe most were:
Where the dog was chewing on the girl, then you realise she's still alive.
Where the other girl is shaving her legs in the bath, and the skin if slicing away. YUCK!

No it's not the same as the Thing. In the Thing the dog finds its way into an American camp in Antartica. The dog can take over lifeforms and turn them into 'Things'. So gradually it takes over just about everyone in the camp. I won't ruin it for you but it is a really good, scary film and you should see it now.
