The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
I hear the screams of 'no proof' and 'this won't hold in court' well then lets have a look and the recent winner on 06/04/01, Skinz posted CBFD cheats and won, although all these cheats are at American websites!
Its not right on the people who have created a great topic and/or posted a great thread/opinion. Is it?
What are your views on this?

P.S No complaints from me because I didn't post on that date. :P
SR has a number of things going for it in their favour here. They have people like us, the visitors, providing them with the information, which saves them having to source it all out for themselves.
This cuts down on staff costs and workload at SR Towers. They only thing they 'should' do is make sure that the cheats do in fact work. That way, the cheats section gets a reputation for being a reliable source of information, and will get repeat visits.
So you could say that the cheats offered for entry into the Gameaday competition come under a different type of entry, because they are not personal 'opinions' as such, they are pieces of factual information.
Opinions in the forums and reviews, on the other hand, should be our own personal opinions, because different opinions are necessary for other visitors to get an all round impression of how good a game or film will actually be. This helps them make an informed decision on a purchase.
But because cheats for the cheats section have to be factual rather than opinion, I think it is fair to allow that people will source information from other sites. The reason I say this is that games are usually out in Japan and the USA 6 months or so before they come out in the UK, and UK visitors can source cheats from many of the US sites well in advance of a game being released over here.
And the cheats section has to be up to date to make it a competitive information resource for the cheats community.
So in essence, yes, I think it's fair for entries to the cheat section to be sourced from other sites, only because the cheats section should always be as up to date as possible.
Opinions on the other hand, should be our own and not someone elses. You don't buy cheats, but you do buy DVDs and Games, so personal opinions posted in those sections need to be 'personal' to make the information a buyer can get more varied.
